Cloud gazing -- trying to figure out which cloud-based platform is right -- has become a favorite pastime for school districts.

The activity is driven by the desire to provide 24-7 access to educational material for students and faculty, and the opportunity to save considerable dollars. A majority of school districts are now looking to establish a presence in the cloud, or want to know more about it.

Affiliation mania

It may not be quite at epidemic levels, but merger mania had definitely taken hold in the healthcare field, and most certainly in New England.

One of the latest examples is the proposed partnership of Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, the Lahey Clinic of Burlington, MA, and Atrius Health, a Newton-MA based consortium of Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates. Atrius Health is the largest physician organization in Massachusetts, with 1,000 physician members.
