AFP Practioner Profile -- Johanne Gauthier

If there are any qualities that have served Johanne Gauthier, CTP, well in her success, they would no doubt be patience, determination—and the ability to get along with others. After all, Gauthier grew up the youngest of 11 children. Learning how to relate with others and get noticed would be critical skills.

Her large-family upbringing has also instilled strong nurturing qualities in Gauthier, and she says the personal accomplishment that she is most proud of is coaching others to be successful in their careers.

A Republican from Kansas’ Second District, Rep. Jenkins was only the 25th women elected to Congress when she won her seat in 2008. A Certified Public Accountant, Rep. Jenkins previously served as state treasurer of Kansas and past-president of the National Association of State Treasurers.

Affiliation mania


It may not be quite at epidemic levels, but merger mania had definitely taken hold in the healthcare field, and most certainly in New England.

One of the latest examples is the proposed partnership of Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, the Lahey Clinic of Burlington, MA, and Atrius Health, a Newton-MA based consortium of Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates. Atrius Health is the largest physician organization in Massachusetts, with 1,000 physician members.

Municipalities Look to Bonds For Stability

Much like the corporate bond market, the past three years have seen record low rates for purchasing municipal bonds. As a result, a large number of communities have sought bonds to pay for major projects, infrastructure repairs, or even offset budget deficits. But the market is now putting more scrutiny on cities and towns in terms of the amounts and terms they are willing to extend.
